There is enough plastic in the oceans to bury all the world's coastlines under several meters of trash!
If you looked in that pile, you would find many of the 3 billion pairs of unrecyclable plastic flip flops produced every year. They currently have no value, even as waste, which is why no one recycles them. These hugely popular shoes account for up to 20% of every beach clean and there is very little we are doing about it. I mean, were you aware that this was a problem until now?
Let’s recycle
The process of shredding ocean waste & waste flip flops and turning them into our key compnent:
We work with local communities to collect waste flip flops from the beaches of Thailand, then the process begins. The soles are cleaned, sorted by colour, shredded and pressed ready to go back into production! Our colourful sheets turn unrecyclable waste into a key component of our production line in Spain. There, the sheets are combined with other innovative and recycled materials to be turned into the Nuos.
